Imagine that. Actually, you see traces of this community in Shakespeare’s plays, and while we do not see the English population elated at the presence of West Africans among them, they did not view them as slaves, an important note here. The Middle Passage had not yet happened. Another important note here is the apparently frequent occurrence of intermarriage between West African people and English people. There is no such thing as a pure race. Human communities continue to migrate back and forth on this planet, and with such movement comes the inevitable intercultural connections. In 2012 we would do well to embrace each other as brother and sister. This is also Afrofuturism.
